cardboardike

current progress on the teeter / leal cardboardike project. how many wheels was the maximum again? we still have many bits laying around, plus paint and a spoon, so, this is still a work in sandwich.the cardboardikes handling is amazing, as long as one does not have to make any left turns. it handles at a barely noticable 80% of what one might expect from other bikes. however, one does have to do a bit of random body leaning this way and that way while zipping along so as to prevent accidents, falling off, running over innocent bystanders and so on . . . what a blast this is

Cat-cycle

Hello, I'm Dennis Murphy and my art bike is a cat-cycle. It is a homage to the three feral cats my wife and daughter rescued, The first was an orange cat who arrived in the engine compartment of a car in the drive-through lane at B&B Bagels where my daughter, Katie worked. His name is Ginger and is the model for this opus. My wife, Jeanne, spent several months taming the other two (Whitey & Marrianne), and aquired an interesting patina of bites and scratches on her hands.
Here is a preliminary sketch and some photos.

Hi, my name is Lisa and as I thought about what to do for my artcyle I thought about cycling in Columbia... I thought about how many trails and bike lanes there are in Columbia, you can get almost anywhere on your bike... from my house in cherry hill, to my job on n. ninth street it only takes 30-45 min. Yet still so many people refuse to use methods to get around other then a car. And then the same people pay for a gym membership and spend an hour there everyday... when you could cut a couple of steps and help the environment. So i created a bike to help all those people who cant give up the power a car brings the presence and the size.. only with zero emissions!!!! So with the help of the Guys at A-1 Auto Recyclers i have created a car bike... it is pretty sweet! This is the toggle switch for my head lights because they are really going to work!!!
This is my mostly completed artcyle, the headlights still need to be electified but I have the mirrors on and all the panels

This is me running from the salvage yard monster!
Here I am looking for tailights for my bike, without success.. but thats okay... it was dark in there so if was good i brought my headlamp

current byke progress:
'we' dipped 'it' in COLD water and look what happened, 'it' shrank and changed colour, so there was nothing else to do but ride over to WalMart . . .

a work in progress...

Here are some previews of my artcycle....I secured canvas around the central supports of the bike and I will be creating a collage in that area. The spokes are covered in wine corks and grapes and I am covering the metal part of the wheel in burlap. The rest of the bike frame is covered in wine labels.

'thing' progress

hadda put teeter in his place, he'd been a naughty boy.
as the photo clearly illustrates, this took ages
right before leal flipped and then fell off the initial prototype
as rene magrittttte said this past tuesday "the only thing behind the piece is the wall and we talk and we talk until our heads explode". and thus we have waited until this now to upload actual images of the 'thing' project because:
1) we have been way too embararrased
2) we wanted to be sure it would be too late for anyone to nab our idea/s. should anyone be insane enuff to do so, we will know....

plastic bags

there will be much CARDBOARD, the weatherproof kind

and plenty of rubbish, the rotten smelly kind
teeter says:
The secret is out..... Our bike is all cardboard, (an amazing product, unexcelled in strength and durability), and, as you can see, we have developed a welding technique to fuse it. Our patented techniques have attracted the attention of the scientific community worldwide and will be debuted at the CAL parade.
